Non-Profit Annual Meeting announced

The Friends of the Joseph Branch will hold their required non-profit organization annual meeting Saturday, December 4, at the Elgin Depot, beginning at 11 a.m. Members of the organization are invited to attend and share memories of the season and join the conversations on continuing a bright and successful future for the excursion train. Lunch will be served. Music about trains and riding the rails will be provided by Blue Plate Special.

Board president Ed Spaulding will give an overview of the 2021 season, including the challenges we faced and how this resilient group got us through with flying colors. Additional reports from board members will include financial; ticket sales & ridership profiles; marketing & public relations; operations – including equipment and track; and volunteer recognition.

There is no doubt this has been a memorable and often trying season! We are very grateful to our supportive and loyal passengers and to the amazing volunteers who keep this enterprise going and bringing in wonderful praise from riders. The volunteers, board of directors and track maintenance crew all faced many obstacles, from COVID19 to wildfires to track failure. But we worked together and got through it all with gusto.
