New Train Depot Ready to Serve Passengers

Passengers on the Eagle Cap Excursion Train will enjoy the new Elgin Depot. Completed in 2012, the depot has ample space for the gift shop, ticket office and waiting area and spacious, fully accessible rest rooms. Exhibits about the Wallowa Union Railroad and the historic Joseph Branch will be installed in the lobby later in the summer. A paved parking lot and bus parking area are also major upgrades to the operation. There are even bike racks for securing your bike while you are riding the train. The depot was funded in part by a grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Is the one June train trip listed on your schedule the only one you’re running during that month?

Hello. Thank you for your interest in the Eagle Cap Excursion Train. The June 15 trip is the only one in June, so far. Additional trips in 2013 beyond the current schedule are unlikely. However, if there is any change in the plan, we will post it on the website as soon as we can. You can also check with our ticket agency if you are in the area and want to know if there are any trains on a particular date. We also invite you to visit the depot in Elgin, which will be open when volunteers are available. We hope to see you on the train sometime. JD
