Passengers on the Eagle Cap Excursion Train will enjoy the new Elgin Depot. Completed in 2012, the depot has ample space for the gift shop, ticket office and waiting area and spacious, fully accessible rest rooms. Exhibits about the Wallowa Union Railroad and the historic Joseph Branch will be installed in the lobby later in the summer. A paved parking lot and bus parking area are also major upgrades to the operation. There are even bike racks for securing your bike while you are riding the train. The depot was funded in part by a grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation.
